Fried sweet plantains.
They are everywhere! If you ever eaten in a Cuban restaurant you’ll notice these fried plantains offered as a side dish on almost every main course. These are sweet treats that will sure go very well with any Cuban dishes. The sweet plantains are not fried bananas instead the plantains are a cousin of the traditional banana most Americans are familiar with.
You will find them ripe or unripe in many Latin supermarkets. To make this delicious treat simple peel the plantains and cut them in little slices as shown on the top picture. Fry them on vegetable oil heated at 300 degrees and turn them occasionally until they brown, place them in paper towels to absorb any remaining oil and serve with your favorite Cuban dish.
