A day like today September 14 Mr. Israel Lopez Cachao was born. Cubans used to call him simply “Cachao” , he had won many Grammy awards as well as a star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Cachao died in Miami in 2008. He is credited with creating the Mambo in the late 1930′s. I want to share with you this video of Cachao on the base and another Cuban master Bebo Valdez on the piano.
