A Brief History of The D.I.C.K.S

In January 2014, a group of travelers from Denton, Texas set out on a cigar focused trip to Estelí, Nicaragua. Their destination was the farms and factory of A. J. Fernandez, one of the most respected names in the cigar world.

At the start, none of them knew each other. However, by the end of the trip, three members had formed a strong bond over their shared appreciation for hand rolled cigars and top shelf Kentucky bourbon.

Soon after returning home, they officially formed The Denton International Cigar Knowledge Society, better known as The D.I.C.K.S.

Growing the Club and the Experience

As the group expanded, so did their travels. They returned to Nicaragua, visited Cuba twice, and later traveled to Costa Rica in 2020. During that trip, they toured a well known cigar factory and learned the craft behind making premium cigars.

While in Costa Rica, the group took things a step further. They blended and ordered their very first custom cigars, creating a product they could truly call their own. Today, their cigars come in four different sizes and blends, giving members a range of options to enjoy.

The club now includes 27 members across Texas, Oklahoma, and Arizona. Despite the growth, they’ve stayed true to what brought them together in the first place, a shared passion for cigars, travel, and community.

From the beginning, the group has enjoyed dressing the part. Custom shirts, hats, and cigar accessories have always been part of their identity. This year, as they prepared to induct a new class of members, they wanted something that would stand out.
